Peter Klein's is Australia's leading racing crime author. His novels have been hailed as "Dick Francis written by Lawrence Block with a dash of Robert G Barrett." Klein has spent a lifetime in horseracing, working for some of Australia's top trainers such as TJ Smith and Bart Cummings, and was a one-time strapper of champion galloper Kingston Town. He now works in the media as Racing Manager of Australian Associated Press.

Geelong Times Rave Review
Read the Geelong Times interview with Peter Klein where reviewer Simon Townley says, "Punter bounces along with pace and colour that make Dick Francis novels seem pedestrian. Perhaps it's because he allows him to be quintissentially Australian."

New SILK CHASER review
Mysteries in Paradise says, "This is #3 of Klein's Punter series, and I'm hooked. SILK CHASER is the best so far. However, if you haven't read either of the others in the series, PUNTER'S LUCK and PUNTER'S TURF, then this is a series where you really should take advantage of the chance to begin on the ground floor. Peter Klein has avoided overloading each novel with back-story, and while there is just enough to help the reader understand what has gone before, reading the series in order will show you character and plot development."

Weekly Times declares SILK CHASER "a winner"
The Weekly Times gives SILK CHASER a great review.
"As a piece of thriller fiction, it is excellent," writes Christopher Bantick. "Not only does Klein know his stuff, but he will have you on the edge of your seat if not the saddle - back this - it's a winner."

Silk Chaser, by Peter Klein
Reviewer: Fifi Lim
"THE adventure continues for John Punter, professional gambler and reluctant PI, in the third of Klein's racing-based crime series. This time, Punter has found romance with the socialite daughter of a radio shock-jock. While this has affected his unting, it didn't stop him being dragged into hunting down a killer stalking female strappers. Part of the fun of reading Klein is getting to know original hero Punter."

Silk Chaser sold to Czech Republic
Delighted to get the news that my latest racing crime novel, Silk Chaser, will be translated into Czech. Didn't realise they have any racing there till I made some enquiries. To my surprise, I found they have 13 racecourses including flat and jumping races. Readers also have a strong interest in the racing/crime genre. Might have to take a trip over one of these days. Who knows, could even set a plot there for one of my books...

Sales Talk
Just got back from the Magic Millions weanling sales at the Gold Coast. Caught up with lots of old racing friends and think I've stumbled on to a plot for a new book set around the sales ring!
I'm still finishing off my next book due out in 2010, but it always pays to have an idea or two in your pocket for the next one.
Funny where your ideas come from. I was standing next to the rail watching the horses parade when a guy says to his wife; "Bit of a problem when the girl with the horse has got longer legs than the weanling she's leading in." I looked up and sure enough, the tall leggy blonde leading in the weanling, had a set of pins which made the young colt look like a pony. I'll have to steal that line for one of my books...

Australia’s foremost racing crime writer
Peter writes crime novels set in the always fascinating, sometimes glamourous and often shady world of thoroughbred racing. He draws on the colourful characters, situations and day to day racing life observed while he was sweeping stables, strapping horses and riding trackwork.
Peter may now be the racing manager for AAP, but he has not forgotten his strapping days! His writing career stems from the great racing yarns he used to share with friends around the dinner table.. This lead to a publisher asking him to write his autobiography A STRAPPER’S TALE. In 2007 Peter published PUNTER’S LUCK', followed by 'PUNTER’S TURF' 2009 which was also released as a talking book and reports are that there’s many a jockey, trainer, float driver, farrier, strapper and bookie listening on the way home from the races!
Now Peter’s latest novel SILK CHASER will be published in June 2010 and he is currently hard at work on his fourth novel.
